Fact 1: There are better ways for us to invest our money. [Sadly we are not ready for them right now so the market will have to do.]
Fact 2: Anyone Can Learn How To Invest In The Stock Market If They Try.
Fact 3: Anyone can Master the market without ever spending a single dime, as long as you can access the internet.
Fact 4: Everyone Can Not AFFORD To Invest In The Stock Market, but should learn anyway.
Fact 5: Do Not Believe Anyone That Advises You To Invest Blindly Because ‘you will make money in the long run’ is false. NO ONE wins as a passive investor. The only time the Investor class holds a stock for years, is when they actually OWN the Company.
Note to the low Wage Earners: If you are living check to check, have $0 savings, or live a community where you are targeted to Fund the Local Government through fines, please do not try to invest in the market. Build up your savings and return to the blog, over time I will help get you to a point where you can invest. However, it does not hurt to learn and teach your children while they are young.
Advice to Newbies
Although the steps outlined below can help anyone get started with investing in the US Stock Market, I do not advise that you invest in the market (either alone or with paid advisor or whatever) until you have a good grasp on the subject matter for yourself.
There are plenty of people on the web (I call them predators because they are usually only “helping” line their own pockets and not yours) who will try to convince you they can help you invest and grow your money. They will try to sell you their services and act like they know the secrets to wealth and immortality.
The only way to protect yourself from being misled or talked into taking more risk that you can handle, is to have a basic understanding of the process for yourself thus be able to ask intelligent questions to help you gage the advisors level of competence as you could run the risk of losing your entire principal if you’re not prepared.
Learn the Basics
– You can start with the Stocks Basics from Investopedia. Be sure to go through all 9 sections and research anything that you do not understand
(Note: Google and YouTube are your best friends and can help you learn ANYTHING).
– You can follow it with this free online course fromWellesley College or this free course from Perdue University.
Practice Makes Perfect
There are websites that allow you to practice investing which you could play with san the risk of losing your money.
Practice with your children and teens! Try to get them used to the different terms and concepts and use them in your everyday life.
HOT TAKE: The American public education system does not, will not, and will never prepare our children (those in the Wage class) for investing because they want and need to keep us fixed in the Wage class. Luckily we don’t need them to because we are in the Information Age.
